David and Goliath
2 Mondays ago for Family Home Evening we read THIS story from The Friend. The kids thought it would be fun to act out the story of David and Goliath (like the family in the story did) since we had just recently read that story in our family scripture study. So this past Mon. night we got all dressed up and did just that. It was so much fun and the kids really got into their parts!
Kylee was supposed to introduce our characters, but she was a little annoyed that we couldn't just start already!
When I asked her what she wanted to be in the story she promptly replied, "The Princess!". Sure, why not? and I was the narrator. :)
Goliath challenging the Israelites to fight him.
The terrified Israelite princess. :)
David listening to Goliath rant while simultaneously making the decision to have faith in the Lord that he will be protected as he fights the giant.
Preparing to throw the rock from its sling.
Yay! The giant fell down from a blow to the forehead by a simple rock. :)
David then takes Goliath's sword and chops of his head. Beautiful.
Celebrating their victory!
We then talked about how we can always have faith in the Lord to fight our own "giants" and know that He will protect us as long as we are faithful in keeping the commandments. I see lots more theater in our future. :)
