Good News?

At the beginning of our Relief Society they always have a "good news minute" for us to share anything good that happened during the week. Yesterday, one girl raises her hand and says her son who is 14 mo. (couple weeks YOUNGER than Tyler) is almost fully potty trained. What?! It's always nice to hear something that reminds you how behind you are in your parenting. :)

I don't know, that seems awfully early! Is that normal? I don't think it is. I know boys are always harder anyway! You're not way behind! Oh and I thought it was nice they had the "good news minute" out west (they never did this in the mid-west), but recently they said they were told to stop doing it because it was taking too much time away from the lesson. Kind of weird.

I think what that girl meant to say was that SHE was almost fully potty trained. At that age(14 months), it is all about the parent knowing when to put their kid on the toilet, not that the child understands those bodily functions and when they have the "urge" to go. You are not way behind. I wouldn't even worry about it for another year at least. If you wait until they're a little bit older it is a breeze. We potty trained Keyan just after he turned three and he was basically trained in three days. You are a great mom, and completely normal!

Well... my Calvin is 27 months old and wants nothing to do with a potty! I must be really behind!

Um 14 months? What kind of potty are they using? new form of diapers called pottys lol!

no way! 14 months, that's still a baby - and can he really say words like "potty" already. That's insane!

Haha that is so not necessary. I have been thinking of potty-training Chase at the age of just barely 2 years old, and I think that's even a little young! The kid first needs to understand the feeling of having to go to the bathroom... But hey, to each his own, huh?!!
