32 Weeks

Everything's going pretty good right now. My doctor said my iron levels are a little low so he wants me to start taking a daily iron supplement, in addition to the pre-natals, so that when Kylie (we're pretty sure that will be her name :)) comes and I lose all that blood, my levels will still be high enough that I won't pass out, or feel extra tired or sick or whatever, so I just picked up some generic Iron pills from Walmart that are supposed to be gentle on your stomach...we'll see. I'm measuring under average right now so he thinks Kylie probably won't be too much bigger than Tyler was (5lbs. 9oz.). Needless to say we've picked up a few preemie outfits for her since that was the only thing that fit Tyler for the first 3-4 weeks. I can't believe I'm already to the 2 week appointments now, this pregnancy has gone by so much faster than the first one, but I'm much more nervous this time; isn't that weird?! Not so much for the delivery/recovery, but for the idea of having 2 kids. AHHHHH! Hopefully some of you other moms have felt this way too!!!

Um, can I just say...

That I LOVE this boy!!!! He has this crazy, goofy, quirky side to him that makes me laugh so hard I want to pee my pants (seriously, sometimes he'll be doing something so bizarre that Bobby and I just look at each other and wonder where in the world he came up with it and swear he can't be our child)

This is his Wow Wow Wubbzy face (Noggin anyone?)

and then he has this serious, super sweet, adorable side that makes me want to just kiss his cute little cheeks for hours (like when he comes up and gives me a kiss randomly during the day, or sits reverently during sacrament meeting, or follows along with his finger like he's actually reading when we read scriptures)

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him doing this. I had left him on the bed and went out to the kitchen to grab something and when I came back he had gotten the "pipturs" (scriptures) down from the book shelf next to the bed and had them opened and was "reading" them when I came back in. He loves the scriptures and it makes my heart just melt when I see him do things like this. We read them as a family (just 1 verse each) after his bath at night and he gets so excited. As soon as we have his diaper on he is asking for the "pipturs" and he just sits there and listens as we read, nodding his head enthusiastically as if to say, I totally know what you're talking about, and will repeat the words he knows when it's his turn to read. I just love this boy and am so thankful he's apart of our family!

What am I supposed to do?

The kid loves jewelry!

And just so one day when he sees that picture he can't say that it was a set-up or that I put those on him, I had to take proof that he

willingly goes to my drawer...

...and one...

...by one...

...puts every bracelet he can reach on.

At least he always puts them back in the drawer and doesn't get too mad when I tell him he can't wear them outside of the house. Sorry Tyler, I'm sure you'll laugh about this one day too!

Mini candy apples

So I actually just got around to making those mini caramel apples that I posted about awhile ago. I had wanted to make them last Thur. so Bobby could take them to work for Halloween on Fri. but I just got too busy and it didn't happen. Since they're not specifically a Halloween thing, and because I had already bought all the stuff, I decided to go ahead and make them Sun. night and he took them to work on Mon. I just used 3 apples which made about 24 mini's, and Bobby said everyone loved them so I was happy I did it. (I'm glad he works with mostly girls because we just appreciate things like this more, right?!) I can't take all the credit though, Bobby is way better than me when it comes to working in the kitchen (cooking, baking, grilling, everything!), so I gladly accepted his help and I think we did a pretty good job!

I ended up using butterscotch chips to dip the apples in because my mom said it would be easier to work with than caramel, and the BS worked great. Also, for anyone else who might be making these you HAVE to make sure you dry the apple balls (just pat them with a paper towel) before you dip them or the dip won't stick to the apple and you'll just have a huge, globby mess!

Papa's visit-Oct. 2008

(Long post; Lots of pictures)
Last week Bobby's dad and wife, Mary, came to visit us for the week. They had a timeshare in Bear Lake which is about 45 min. away so we didn't get to see them everyday but made the most of all the time we had together when we did. Tyler took to Papa right away which really surprised all of us! He is usually so shy around new people (the last time we saw them was when Tyler was about 2 mo. old)and takes awhile to get warmed up to them. But within minuets Tyler was his usually crazy self running around, singing at the top of his lungs, and showing off all his favorite toys. He wanted to be everywhere Papa was and he would only let Papa help him with his toys and play with him. Papa could get Tyler to bust up laughing at the simplest of things and Tyler was always trying to copy everything he said or did with his hands and face. It was so cute watching them together and I know Tyler misses them so much. The day after they left he just walked around the house saying "Papa? Papa? Papa?". He would go into all the rooms saying that like he thought maybe Papa was hiding from him. I tried to tell him that Papa had to go back to his home but he did NOT want to hear that, so I just told him that we would get to see him later. Here are some of the pictures I got from the time we spent with them.

We stayed the night with them one night in Bear Lake and their timeshare looked right out onto the beach (too bad it was too cold to go swimming!) which Tyler loved!!! He wanted to go out and play on the beach so bad, but none of us were willing to go out there...except Papa!

Papa and Mary spoiled us tons while they were here, taking us out to dinner ALL the time, and buying Tyler cute little gifts! They got him a small keyboard which is probably the most perfect gift anyone has ever given him! He pretends to play the piano on anything and everything; the couch, the floor, his blocks (he makes us build him a piano to play), the TV, etc. Everyone kept telling us we needed to get him a piano but we never got around to it. But there's no way Papa was going to let his most favorite grandson go through life without a piano! To say Tyler loved it would be an understatement! He will not stop playing it. We have to hide it just to get him to eat meals!

They also got him his very own T-O-T pumpkin filled with fun treats! (Notice the piano lying not more than 2 inch. from him...I wasn't kidding!)

A jar of mandarin oranges-his absolute favorite!!!

One night while they were here our apartment complex had a Halloween carnival that we went to so that they would get to see Tyler dressed up in his costume.

Trying to throw the bean bag into the ghost's mouth. As you can tell from the position of his hand it was a pretty unsuccessful attempt.

Tyler LOVES to play in the leaves outside and with Papa it's even better!

Later that night they treated us to Olive Garden (one of our most favorite restaurant's ever!!!) We got appetizer's, scrumptious meals, and THREE desserts to share between the four of us. Needless to say, I was in heaven and SO SO SO full! Tyler was entertained forever by Papa and his hat.

Thank you so much Papa and Mary for coming to visit us, we had SO much fun and can't wait to see you again!!

Trick or Treat!

To say that Tyler loved trick-or-treating would be a little bit of a stretch, but he did think it was so cool that he could just knock on somebody's door and they would give him candy. The whole way walking to the next house he would point to the candy in his bucket and laugh.

Since we live in student housing we decided to drive a couple blocks over to a really nice neighborhood (where they would be handing out the "good" candy) and let Tyler trick-or-treat over there. We just did 2 blocks-which was about 15 houses-because it was pretty late when we got started (which is a story in and of itself but I'm not in the mood to write about it so there you go) but I think for his first time T-O-T it was just long enough for him to enjoy it without being too overwhelming.

Daddy (a construction worker-LAME) and Tyler (a bat) in their costumes. I wasn't dressed up (double LAME) so that's why I'm not in the picture-part of the afore-mentioned story

Going up to the first house

But even after all 15 houses he still would NOT say "trick-or-treat" at the door. We would practice and he would say it the whole way up to the door but the second they opened the door he just stood there holding out his bucket (at least he got that part down). He would tell them "Thank you" and "Bye Bye" so I guess that's better than nothing.

Someone told Tyler he had a cute bunny costume and I thought, that's weird how do they possibly get bunny from this? Do you know any bunnies with wings? And who would dress up their boy as a bunny? Then I got home and was looking at the pictures I took and realized it actually does look like a bunny costume if he doesn't hold his arms out because of the ears and the teeth on the costume. Ha Ha. Oh well!

He was SO not happy when we told him we were all done T-O-T for the night and cried the whole way home.

I think going through his candy made him feel better.

I couldn't even get him to look up at me for 2 sec. so I could take a picture!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween and got LOTS of good candy!!!
